The iPET Network Level 3 Award in Microchip Implantation for Pet Animals qualification has been developed in response to legislative changes and the compulsory microchipping of dogs and other small animals not covered under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966. This qualification covers Microchip technology, scanning and implantation equipment, handling and restraint of animals, pre and post implantation procedures and implantation of a microchip in pet animals.
This qualification is in line with current legislation from England, Wales and Northern Ireland which covers both micro chipping of dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits or other species not covered under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 and the commercial and non-commercial movement of pet animals.
The qualification is a balance of theoretical and practical learning to ensure Candidates have the knowledge required to microchip pet animals.
